With features deriving from reference 3970 and thus the mythical reference 2499, the present timepiece carries the essence of Patek Philippe's post-war designs as well as the knowledge gathered throughout the years by its master watchmakers. Due to the complexity of building a mechanism with a perpetual calendar, a split-seconds chronograph as well as a moon-phase display and allying it to a traditional sized case, the manufacture could only build around 12 pieces per year and stopped production after 15 short years.
