ATTRIBUTED TO GEORGE OAKLEY, CIRCA 1810
Strung in holly and purplewood, the cornice applied with carved palmettes, the mirrored doors enclosing two adjustable shelves, the drawer below with satinwood and ebony interior of small drawers, pigeon holes and leather writing surface, the cupboard below with adjustable shelf, flanked by Egyptian terms

Specialist note

A very similar goncalo alves (zebrawood) cabinet attributed to Oakley is in the British Galleries of the V & A museum (number W.15:1 to 14-1930) and is also illustrated in Jourdain and Fastnedge, Regency Furniture, 1965, p.80, fig. 186. See also Freeman's, Philadelphia, 21 May 2013, lot 99 for a cabinet from the same Oakley group ($74,500).
