Specialist note

These enamel works were realised at the Benedictine Abbey of Saint-Martin in Ligugé. Rouault selected some of his existing paintings to be recreated in enamel. These were loaned to the Atelier Saint-Martin for the time it took to create the enamel work. Each enamel was submitted to Rouault during execution and after completion and they were only released with his approval.
