THE HAITIANTANG COLLECTION

The owner of Haitiantang, Li Haitian, was the owner of the famed Chung King Restaurant in Yokohama. After migrating to Japan in 1949, Li hosted Zhang Daqian with lavish hospitality each time the artist visited Japan. Works from the same collection were auctioned in our salerooms in Spring 2003 (Lots 252-269), Spring 2005 (Lots 809-815), Autumn 2006 (Lots 841-847).

Specialist note

This album was previously owned by Liu Haitian. Liu Haitian, born in Luyuan, Shaanxi Province, was a member of the Cursive Script Standardization movement led by Yu Youren (1879-1964).
