Each with a fluted and foliate-carved frame and oval padded back and arms above a serpentine seat, the rails stop-fluted and with rosette blocks, on tapering turned and fluted legs

Specialist note

The cabriole chairs correspond to patterns executed by Gillows in the 1780s. Several related examples are illustrated in Susan Stuart, Gillows of Lancaster and London 1730 – 1840, Woodbridge, 2008, e.g. pp.181 – 2, pl. 148.
