RM027 can easily be named as one of the world lightest watch to ever be made. With the movement composed of lithium aluminum alloy (LITAL) weighing only 3.83 grams and the whole watch minus strap weighing just 13 grams.

This alloy is also applied in aerospace on the Airbus A380, helicopters, rockets, satellites as well as in Formula 1 racing cars. The case is composed of carbon based composite and the baseplate from titanium. All these components provides the watch with more flexibility and greater shock resistance.

Richard Mille specifically created the RM027 for Spanish professional tennis player Rafael Nadal to wear while competing. When designing the watch, Richard Mille created the watch so that it is light, extremely shock-resistance and comfortable to play tennis with.

As Rafael Nadal has proven to all of us, the RM027 is not a high-end complicated watch that must be worn with care - it is a watch that can be used in sporting activities such as top-level tennis matches.
