circular box, the cover, sides and base set with panels of translucent purple enamel over an engine-turned ground of concentric circles stamped at intervals with pellets, the outer borders set with pearlescent enamel beads with green enamel berries between, the cover and base centred with a circular enamelled swirling flowerhead

Specialist note

Jean-Edmé Julliot was apprenticed to Jean-François Breton in 1749. He became a master in 1772 sponsored by Charles-Barnabé Sageret and was elected warden in 1786.
