A documentary Meissen snuff-box, signed by J.J. Wagner, of the same form as the present lot and with similar oval cartouches to the lower body, painted in camaïeu rose with battle scenes, was sold at Christie's in Geneva on 8 May 1989, lot 109; painted in a similar hand to the present snuff-box it commemorated the First Silesian War with a scene of Frederick the Great directing his troops in the attack on Neisse.
