Specialist note
This pair of stools was possibly made by the firm Lenygon & Morant, established in Old Burlington Street in 1915, who specialised in furniture in the early 18th century style. They are inspired by the 'Roman' stool pattern conceived by William Kent in 1737 for the Queen's Withdrawing Room, Hampton Court Palace, Middlesex.
For further information see lot 97, an 18th century stool of the same pattern.
