Each with channelled frame, the cartouche-shaped padded back above a serpentine seat with squab cushion, on cabriole legs, one stamped 'J. NADAL LAINE ', the other stamped 'I. NADAL' and both with further later stamps and inscribed in blue crayon '66784', covered in peach mohair velvet

Specialist note

Jean-René Nadal (dit l'Aîné), maître in 1756.
The Nadal family of menuisiers worked from their atelier in the rue de Cléry and flourished throughout the 18th Century. According to the comte de Salverte, Jean Nadal employed a stamp with an inverted 'N', while his son Jean-Michel used the same stamp but with a normal 'N'.
