Circle of Maarten van Heemskerck (Heemskerk 1498-1574 Haarlem)

Although given to Heemskerck in 1927 by Hülsen (op. cit., pp. 92-4), Peter Schatborn has suggested that the present drawing is more likely to be a copy after the artist. It is close to the drawing in the following lot, and it could have been made by the same hand, after a drawing by van Heemskerck. However, the drawing on which it could have been based is not known.
