After a mezzotint from 1689 by John Smith (1652-1743) (see National Portrait Gallery, London; inv. NPG D11649) after a painting by Sir Godfrey Kneller (1646-1723) sold at Christie's, London, 11 June 2002, lot 12 which is in reverse to the present drawing and the mezzotint.
