Rolex. An extremely rare and attractive 18K pink gold automatic wristwatch with red and black day, black dial and luminous numerals

Produced for a short period of time during the 1950s, reference 6305 was cased principally in yellow gold. A few examples are known in pink and white gold as well as in stainless steel. The present watch is one of these rare pink gold examples. A cursory glance to its dial will be enough, however, for the savvy collector to realize the pink gold is only part of the immense charm of this piece. The black dial is already an exceedingly rare find with nearly irresistible appeal, but this dial furthermore features a very uncommon variation of the famed explorer design: it has baton numerals with the exception of numerals 6 and 9, which are Arabic. The numeral at 3 is missing, obviously because of the presence of the date window. On top of this, the numerals are luminous and the date is roulette-style. Each one of these traits alone- black dial, roulette date, explorer configuration and luminous numerals - is enough to have the connoisseur gape in awe. A combination of all of them in a pink gold case is nothing short of exceptional: according to our research, only another example with this configuration is known.
