TWO SIMILAR CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE ROCOCO-FORM SAUCE-TUREENS, COVERS, STANDS AND SPOONS

It is rare to find tureens of this form complete with their spoon. Compare the closely related tureen, cover, stand and spoon, bearing the arms of Pedro III of Portugal, which is in the Castle of Queluz, and is illustrated by M. Beurdeley, Porcelain of the East India Companies, London, 1962, p. 71, colour plate XV, and p. 78, where the author suggests that the tureen was made to commemorate Pedro III's marriage to his niece in 1760.
