Decorated by Lawrence Birks, one side with Bacchic putti below the monogram LB, the other with a putto riding a hippocamp in a rectangular cartouche above two seated putti and swags, with swag-moulded handles, on a key-pattern canted oval base, minute chipping to handles, slight flaking to gilding

Specialist note

During the 1850s a number of French inspired shapes were introduced at Minton, including the 'Queen's Vase' which took inspiration from an 18th century Sèvres shape.
