Felix Moscheles was named after his godfather, the composer Felix Mendelssohn (1809 –1847). An ardent pacifist, Moscheles was also an artist as was his wife, Margaret. They often held soireés at their home in Cadogan Gardens and mixed with the artistic circles of the day. Felix was close friends with the writer and cartoonist George du Maurier (1834 – 1896) and wrote a series of reminiscences about their friendship, In Bohemia with du Maurier, 1886.
