Simon van der Does (1653-after 1718)

Traditionally given to an anonymous follower of Jacob van der Does (1623-1673), this drawing is probably in fact by his son Simon. Like his father, Simon frequently painted sheep, and heads very similar to those in the present sketch appear in his finished paintings.
