LUIS LORENZANA (B. 1979)

Luis Lorenzana is widely acclaimed for blending contemporary fantasy with a sophisticated painterly technique reminiscent of the Old Masters. Within Instant Prince, Lorenzana offers a satirical take on the nouveau-riche experience. He portrays a bemoustached fop, boasting a ridiculous hairdo, attempting the transmutation from frog to prince while surrounded by the trappings of his new found wealth. Around him, a choir of comic cherubim flutters, as though serenading his arrival into the ranks of the rich and famous. Lorenzana's painterly genius shines through in the carefully rendered details of the prince's blinged-out attire, and particularly within the beautiful atmospheric background reminiscent of Flemish landscapes.
