from whom purchased in 1935 by Georg Schönander, Stockholm, as Titian; thence by descent, until acquired by the present owner in 2013.

Specialist note

The present lot is offered together with a certificate by W. Suida, dated May 1934, as Titian and dating to circa 1530 and Suida's monograph of 1935 (op. cit.), ex-libris Gösta Stenman.
