Specialist note

Combining a wonderfully preserved and large pink gold case with an absolutely original and highly attractive black dial with gilt scales, and the square pushers typical of the second series of reference 2508, the present watch is an incredible example of the elegance and refinement already achieved by Rolex nearly a century ago. Beyond the aesthetical qualities of this timepiece, one cannot overstress the rarity of a reference 2508 in pink gold, in such well-preserved state, and with the very uncommon black/gilt dial.

Reference 2508 was introduced into the market in the mid 1930s. The first generation featured oval chronograph buttons, whereas the second series were fitted with rectangular pushers, such as the present watch.
Different versions of reference 2508 are described and illustrated in I Cronografi Rolex - La Leggenda, Pucci Papaleo Editore, pp. 80-91.
