King Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (1906-1975) reigned over Saudi Arabia from 1964 to 1975. Even before accessing the throne, he gained popularity as a leading figure for reform and modernization. For example, he introduced education for women, the curriculum of which remained supervised by religious leaders. Furthermore, he established the country's first television station in 1963. During his reign as King, he successfully stabilized the kingdoms bureaucracy, rescued the countrys fnances and abolished slavery in Saudi Arabia in 1962.
