from the Devonian (419 - 359 Mya), the specimen of Walliserops trifurcatus with fine three-dimensional preservation including of the spines and eyes.
4½in. (11.5cm.) wide on matrix

Specialist note

The exact use of this bizarre trident-like appendage is much debated, it could have been used for sexual display as in the modern day stag beetle or it may have been utilised to move the sediment in front of the trilobite whilst feeding.
