A young officer, in green coat with red collar, wearing the badge of the Imperial Austrian Military Cross; together with Archduchess Maria Christina of Austria (1742-1798) with blue ribbons in her hair (After Alexandre Roslin, French, 1718-1793, circa 1778); together with an unknown lady (French School, circa 1770)
the former signed 'Schoedl pinx' (mid-right)
all on ivory
ovals, 2 ½ in. (64 mm.); 9/16 in. (24 mm.) and ¾ in. (20 mm.) high respectively, gilt-metal frames, the latter set with paste
The former indistinctly inscribed and dated November 1818 in pencil on the backing card.

The officer by Schödl: The collection of Dr Alphonse Freiherr von Rothschild (1878-1942) and his wife Clarice née Sebag Montefiore (1894-1967).
Looted in 1939. Later Restituted.
