The circular top inlaid with various specimen marbles including and pietre dure portor, breccia, porphyry, alabastro fiorito, rouge royal, lapis lazuli and malachite, on spreading fluted support and square base, the paper label inscribed in ink No 1103 / Monseuir / Monseuir d'Hauteville / Vevey, on recessed wooden castors, the frieze numbered for identification of marble
30 in. (76 cm.) high; 37 in. (94 cm.) diameter

Purchased during a visit to Italy by Eric (1786-1848) and Aimée (1791-1855) Grand d'Hauteville in 1820.
