ATTRIBUTED TO GILLOWS, CIRCA 1835
The twelve graduated mahogany-lined drawers panelled in gilt-tooled leather, with rosewood handles, the stile with sliding lock-cover revealing a Bramah lock, the drawers numbered in pencil underneath, on castors

Specialist note

Designs for "pedestals of drawers" with identical mouldings and sliding lock-covers are first shown by Gillows in 1832. In addition to its country-house proportions, the present lot has expensive extra features like leather-panelled drawers and a finely panelled mahogany back.
