Specialist note
A copy, reduced in size but faithful in all details, of a composition by Marco's uncle Sebastiano Ricci (1659-1734), which survives in two versions. The first is in the National Gallery of Scotland, Edinburgh (A. Scarpa, Sebastiano Ricci, Milan, 2006, no. 99, pl. LV) and the second at Stourhead in Wiltshire (Scarpa, op. cit., no. 460, fig. 594). The original composition probably dates from the mid-1720s.
