The appearance of the present watch may come as a surprise to the novice, but for the avid Rolex collector, a perfect "tropical" dial is the most sought-after one. The MKII dial of this watch was originally of black colour, and due to a mix of exposure to the elements, including strong ultra-violet light, the property of the paint on the watch's face changed into a subtle light brown color. This example here offers a perfectly even brown "patina" giving a "new face" to the watch. Such examples, in very good condition, are hard finds in today's market.
