This watch is part of a limited edition of 25 pieces only.
Enamelling and marquetry become part of the Cartier repertoire in the late 19th century. Inspired by the renowned Parisian jeweler Peter Carl Febergé, Cartier has always produced exquisite timepieces that are not just to keep time, but also works of art worn on the wrist that demonstrates aesthetic excellence and creativity.
Each year, Cartier introduces a new themed collection that are only available at Cartier boutiques. In 2007, Cartier introduced four models from the Cartier d'Art collection. Inspired by the Russian and Chinese works of art, the present watch depicts a dragon with black, red and beige champlevé enamel on the dial and through the edges of the watch. The rarity behind this present watch is its champlevé enamel dial. The creation of each dial requires a master enameller approximately 40 hours, which undergoes up to 13 firings in a 1,550 degrees Fahrenheit oven.
