Specialist note
The printed paper crest to the underside of this table belongs to Queen Victoria's fifth child, Princess Helena and her husband Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein. They resided at Schomberg House, Pall Mall after their marriage in 1866 until Helena’s death in 1923. It is now part of the Oxford & Cambridge Club, 71 Pall Mall. The presence of the crest suggests that it was once in the royal residences but it has not been identified in the existing inventories. It is likely to have been dispersed as a gift or by descent after Princess Helena’s death.
