MARK OF JOSEPH AND JOSEPH ANGELL, LONDON, 1846
Cylindrical and on spreading foot, the body and cover chased with cartouches amidst foliage on a matted ground, the domed cover with cartouche-shaped thumb-piece, the front engraved with inscription, marked near handle and inside cover
10.1/2 in. (26.8 cm.) high
gross weight, 47 oz. 19 dwt. (1.492 gr.)
The presentation inscription reads 'THE HON.BLE CHARLES STEWART VANE/ FROM HIS/ AFFECTIONATE FRIEND AND COUSIN / James Edwards/ A.D. 1852'.

Given by ‘James Edwards’ to Charles Stewart Vane Tempest Stewart, later 6th Marquess of Londonderry (1852-1915), presumably as a christening gift, and by descent.
