The openwork sides on circular base chased with acanthus, and with a corded swing-handle, the centre engraved with coat-of-arms with a mark of difference, all above a later-engraved 'V' below earl's coronet, marked underneath and on handle, further engraved with scratchweight '55=19'

The arms are those of Taylor of Ogwell, Devon, probably for Pierce Joseph Taylor (1754-1832), of West Ogwell House, Ogwell, Devon.
The initial ‘V’ is for George, 2nd Earl Vane, later 5th Marquess of Londonderry (1821-1884).
