ELEMENTS OF A CIVIL SERVICE DRESS UNIFORM
LATE 19TH CENTURY
Comprising: a red wool tunic with black collar and cuff facings embroidered with oak leaf in silver thread, and single row of nine silver buttons each with a crown surrounded by a laurel wreath; a bicorne hat with embroidered decoration en suite and bullion tassels; a white feather plume in its original blue card tube; a brass-hilted dress sword with slender blade, hilt retaining traces of original gilded finish, bullion sword-knot, and original black leather scabbard with brass mounts; and a pair of black leather dress boots; together with a Masonic apron and a Rose Croix collar

Specialist note

Lord Raglan served as Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man from 1902 until 1919. During this time he was deeply involved with Freemasonry on the Isle of Man, becoming Provincial Grand Master and having a Lodge, Lord Raglan Lodge No. 3685 (consecrated 11 December 1913), named in his honour.
