Twenty-fourth to twenty-seventh edition. These four editions were contributed by Charles Pardon, the first editor to have his name on the title-page. Pardon showed his new priorities by placing an account of 'The Australians in England – 1886’ at the start of his debut edition, whereas West's review of ‘The Australians in England 1882’ had been hidden away at the back. A great innovation, retained for all but the war years, came in the 1889 edition with the introduction of a mounted photographic plate showing medallion portraits of ‘Six Great Bowlers of the Year 1888’.
