Oval with squeeze-action sides, cover engraved with with a putto running past a village, examining a heart in his outstretched arms that he has plucked from a row of hearts on a table in front of a tasselled curtain below legend Un Seul me sufit, the base engraved with foliate scrolls
1.5/8 in. long (4.1 cm.)

Specialist note

Although Tysoe is cited by Timothy Kent as a spoon maker he was not exclusively so and Kent on P. 49 of London Silver Spoonmakers 1500 to 1697 mentions he was fined in respect of various wares, including a nutmeg grater
