With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1953 and its subsequent sale on 2 May 1955.

Reference 2517, nicknamed fisarmonica, Italian for accordion, due to the shape of its lugs, is one of the most unusual designs made by Patek Philippe. The discerning connoisseur will not need to look twice to notice the particularity of the present specimen: the round ridges of the lugs are in alternated types of gold: yellow, pink and white. The origin of this color scheme is unknown - whether it was made by special order or developed as marketing tool for an exhibition or part of an extremely limited test series will probably always remain a mystery.
