EXTREMELY RARE SEPARATE PRINTING of Fitton's advice for explorers on collecting geological specimens. It was originally published in the appendix to Philip Parker King's Narrative of a Survey of the Intertropical and Western Coasts of Australia (London, 1827). Fitton's pamphlet covers specimen selection, size, palaeontology, description (labelling and location), and use of hammers and trimming tools (these illustrated).
