Automatic jewelled movement, black dial, luminous Arabic numerals, luminous Poires Paris hands, outer railway minute divisions, center seconds, circular water-resistant-type case, screw-down crown, screw back engraved with a British Spitfire combat plane, stainless steel IWC buckle, case, dial, and movement signed
38mm diam.

Specialist note

Accompanied by an undated IWC Certificate confirming that the present watch is No. 343/1000. Further accompanied by an IWC presentation box, additional leather strap, IWC Spitfire cashmere scarf, product literature, and outer packaging.

The first Mark IX watches were produced in the 1930's as a pilot's watch to assist air crews with navigation. The present watch is number 343 of the Spitfire Mark XV series that was produced in a limited edition of 1000 watches and reserved exclusively for the British market. The case back features an engraving of a Spitfire Mark XV combat plane and commemorates the 60th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
