Christie's is pleased to announce Mr. Voutilainen has graciously offered the purchaser of this timepiece a signed copy of the brand new book Kari Voutilainen - Horlogerie d'Art by Theodore Diehl, just published this fall. This presents a rare opportunity for a collector to obtain a signed book together with this unique piece.

Kari Voutilainen, born in Finland in 1962, trained as a watchmaker both in Finland and later in Switzerland. He spent ten years working on restoring watches, and at the same time developed his own new and original "one-off" pieces. After heading the department of watchmaking, Voutilainen decided to establish his own business as an independent watchmaker in the village of Môtiers in 2002.

The present watch was crafted in-house, and all parts of the watch were made completely in his atelier, be it the unique guilloché pink dial, main plates, bridges, hands, etc. The only exceptions are the jewels, mainspring, and hairspring, which require specialized industrial production. This is a rare opportunity for a collector to own a unique piece, featuring a classical yet distinctive look, made by one of the world's most celebrated independent watchmakers.
