'En tentant de modifier la forme, et en y ajoutant parfois la couleur, j'essayais en somme de faire 'éclore' la représentation. Je voulais aussi, en corrigeant la photo, en doubler le sens ou, du moins, infléchir celui-ci vers quelque chose de plus souriant où 'l'artistique' et 'l'acrobatique', en se combinant, feraient irradier ces poses qui fascinent les enfants et excitent tant les hommes.'


'In attempting to change the form, and sometimes adding colour, I basically tried to make the representation 'bloom'. By adjusting the photo, I also wanted to double the meaning, or at least amend it to something more friendly in which the 'artistic' and 'acrobatic', by combining, would radiate this poses which hold such fascination for children and excitement for men.'
