Lot 165 The following ten dresses were created as part of a collaboration between Harrods and Disney. First showcased in Harrods' Christmas windows in 2012, these exclusive Disney Princess-inspired dresses are being auctioned to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity, with proceeds going to the charity. Each dress has been stunningly handcrafted by world-leading designers to be an individual interpretation of a Disney Princess paying tribute to the stories of Ariel, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, Rapunzel, Snow White and Tiana.
Harrods invited ten of their most covetable brands to create their own show-stopping interpretation of a Disney Princess dress. One element imperative to the success and credibility of this project was to ensure that the creative freedom of the brands was not inhibited. Working with the Disney team each designer was sent the characteristics and personality traits unique to their specially selected Disney Princess and asked to respect the heritage and legacy of that princess within their design.
In 2008, Disney announced its partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity, focused on raising £10 million towards the hospital's redevelopment appeal. Great Ormond Street Hospital is one of the world's leading children's hospitals with the broadest range of dedicated children's healthcare specialists under one roof in the UK. The Disney Appeal works across all of the Disney businesses to raise funds and provide unique and memorable experiences for patients and their families.
