Specialist note
This classic Gillow model is named after the Reverend Holland Edwards of Conway, North Wales, who ordered a set of twelve in August 1811. Identical chairs were supplied to Tatton Park, Cheshire and Broughton Hall, North Yorkshire, around 1811-12. See S. Stuart, Gillows of Lancaster and London 1730 - 1840, London, 2008, vol. I, pp.216-218 for the sketched design and a Broughton Hall example.
