Woodcut Aldine device on title and last page, 17 half-page or full-page woodcuts, some repeated, woodcut head- and -tail pieces and historiated initials. (Repairs with loss replaced in facsimile on title, a few other minor marginal repairs, some browning, staining and a few holes.) 19th-century quarter calf, title and shelf mark label on spine (rubbed). Provenance: some early annotations -- Compagnia del Gesú, Rome (book label and stamp on tile).
Third edition of Nazari's fine work on transmutation, the second edition to contain the third 'dream' (sogno), and THE FIRST EDITION to contain the Concordanza de filosofi. The first edition was published in Brescia in 1564. Many of the woodcuts depict the author conversing with Bernardo di Treviso or recumbent and dreaming beneath a tree.
