Born Dortmund, Germany, 1953. Studied at the Hochschule für bildende Künste, Hamburg. Group exhibitions include: Berlinart 1961-1987, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, 1987; Objects for an Ideal Home, Serpentine Gallery, London, 1991; Allegories of Modernism- Contemporary Drawing, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, 1992; Examining Pictures, Whitechapel Gallery, London, 1999; Open Ends, Museum of Modern Art, New York, 2000; En Route, Serpentine Gallery, London, 2002; The Triumph of Painting. Part One, Saatchi Gallery, London, 2005; Prefab, Gagosian Gallery, New York, 2008; NYC 1993: Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star, New Museum, New York, 2013. He died in Vienna, 1997.
