Of bulbous form, with applied moulded rosettes to the body and neck, and painted lustre scrolls on dark brown glazed ground

Specialist note

These ewers are found in the South of France where they are known as "Demoiselles d'Avingon" vases used by Avignonese to preserve raki (grape brandy flavored with anis). Probably made in Turkish port of Cannikkale on the Dardelles.
