ATTRIBUTED TO ANTHONY RASCH, PHILADELPHIA, CIRCA 1818
Baluster form, with flaring cylindrical neck and spreading circular foot, the rim, shoulder and foot rim with die-rolled leaf borders, the cover and lower body with paterae and foliage, with eagle's-head spout and wooden handles with acanthus joins, the cover surmounted by a spread-winged eagle, apparently unmarked
The coffee pot 11 3/8 in. (28.9 cm.) high, the teapot 10¼ in. (26 cm.) high; 76 oz. (2,364 gr.) gross weight (2)

Specialist note

A teapot and coffeepot of identical form marked by Rasch are part of a set presented in 1818 to the daughter of Captain John Blakely, U.S.N. Blakely was lost at sea during a victorious battle against British warships in 1814. The matching tea service is illustrated in David B. Warren, Marks of Achievement, 1987, fig. 134, p.112.
