The back-rests formed of arched splats above slatted seats, some corrosion and minor loss
One: 40 in. (101 cm.) high; 66 in. (165 cm.) wide; 24½ in. (62 cm.) deep
The other: 38 in. (67 cm.) high; 61½ in. (156 cm.) wide; 24 in. (61 cm.) deep

Specialist note

Professor Sir Albert Richardson was photographed seated on the example with the double-arch back in the garden at Avenue House in 1962, whilst Lady Richardson is photographed separately seated in the same position in 1936 (S. Houfe, Sir Albert Richardson, The Professor, Luton, 1980, pls. 8 & 16).
