A CONTINENTAL MAJOLICA MODEL OF A COCKATOO
LATE 19TH CENTURY, PROBABLY FRENCH
The white bird with a yellow crest and red tail feathers, modelled seated on a perch and fitted with a metal hanging loop, head and beak broken and restored
The bird 20½ in. (52.1 cm.) high

Note du spécialiste

Sir Albert purchased this amusing bird, remembering the real life cockatoo that balanced on a hoop in the window of Miss Money-Coutts home in London. Sir Albert always also kept a live parrot as a pet at Avenue House. This majolica example hung in the window of his dining room.
