CIRCA 1810, ATTRIBUTED TO SEBASTIAN ERARD
The lattice-work sloping rests flanked by articulated brass sconces, on a fluted telescopic shaft and tripod base with brass claw-and-ball feet

Specialist note

This music stand was loaned by Professor Sir Albert Richardson in 1924 for display in the Regency room at the British Empire Exhibition, Wembley, along with the central fragment of the carpet from the throne room at Carlton House.
An almost identical duet-stand by Erard is held in the collection of the National Trust at Attingham Park, Shropshire.
