Each with caned shaped seat on simulated bamboo-turned legs decorated with floral sprigs, one marked in chalk 'all Gosling & Wendy (?)...', together with later silk-covered squab cushions
16 in. (40.5 cm.) high; one: 63¾ in. (162 cm.) wide
the other two: 62½ in. (159 cm.) wide; 16½ in. (42 cm.) deep

Commissioned by a descendant of John Morris (1740-1816), the Wealthy Ampthill brewer who built Avenue House, Ampthill, Bedfordshire as part of the furnishings for the architect John Wing's grand drawingroom extension of 1919, and by descent through the Morris family at Avenue House until sold Swaffield & Co. Auctioneers, April, 1906.
By repute Sir Philip Sassoon (1888-1939) from whom acquired by Professor Sir Albert Richardson circa 1930 and returned to their original positions at Avenue House.
