ATTRIBUTED TO GILLOWS, EARLY 19TH CENTURY
The rectangular grey marble top with pierced ormolu three-quarter gallery, above a strapwork-inlaid frieze and a pair of panelled doors with pleated navy cotton lining, enclosing two adjustable mahogany shelves, flanked by moulded pilasters, on reeded bun feet, the gallery and marble top apparently original
24¼ in. (92 cm.) high; 31¼ in. (79.5 cm.) wide; 15¼ in. (38.5 cm.) deep

Specialist note

A related design for a 'Rosewood Commode' is in the Gillow Estimate Sketch Books, pattern no. 3362, dated 4 August 1824 (Westminster City Archive). Identical Boulle panels but in contre partie are found on a Gillows table, and chairs at Tatton Park, Cheshire (S.E. Stuart, Gillows: of Lancaster and London 1730-1840, Woodbridge, 2008, vol.1, p.226, pl.216, p.220, pl.203).
